Strip Mine

Strip Mine was originally introduced in the 1993 Antiquities expansion for Magic: The Gathering, designed as a powerful land card capable of destroying any other land on the battlefield. The Pro Tour Collector Set version, released in 1997, was part of a boxed product intended to commemorate the top decks from the early professional tournament circuit, providing players with fixed, non-randomized cards to study and replicate high-level play.

The artwork for this version was provided by Daniel Gelon, a prolific artist during the game's formative years who contributed to many iconic cards. His design captures the bleak, industrial nature of a resource-depleted landscape, fitting the card's mechanical function of land destruction. The art style reflects the dark, gritty aesthetic common to the game's early sets, which prioritized atmospheric, hand-painted illustrations to build the game's unique high-fantasy world.
