Where it came from
Sunrise Seeker was originally printed as part of the Ixalan expansion, released in 2017, which focused on a Mesoamerican-inspired plane filled with dinosaurs, pirates, and ancient mysteries. The card is a common-rarity creature designed to bolster the set's exploration mechanics, providing players with a straightforward way to filter their deck while interacting with the set's unique land-focused themes.
The card features artwork by Magali Villeneuve, a celebrated fantasy illustrator known for her emotive style and intricate lighting. Her depiction of the Seeker captures the atmospheric transition of an Ixalan dawn, aiming to immerse players in the lush, adventurous tone that defined the Ixalan block. It was well-received by limited-format players as a reliable, utilitarian piece that helped smooth out the early-game curve of a deck.
