Where it came from
Susur Secundi, Void Altar, cataloged as 259s, originated as a specialty promotional card released within the Edge of Eternities expansion cycle. These promotional variants were commissioned to celebrate the narrative conclusion of the Void War arc, serving as a prestige offering for tournament participants and event organizers who supported the game's growth during a pivotal shifting of its mechanical landscape.
The visual direction for the card was helmed by lead illustrator Elena Vance, who aimed to encapsulate the paradoxical nature of the Void Altar by utilizing a stark, high-contrast aesthetic that deviated from the standard full-color palette of the set. Upon its release, the card received favorable attention from the community for its minimalist framing and distinct foiling process, eventually becoming a sought-after piece for players who valued the intersection of competitive utility and thematic artistry.
