Where it came from
Swift Reconfiguration was originally released as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set in 2022, designed for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It represents the set’s unique focus on combining futuristic, cyberpunk aesthetics with traditional Japanese themes, depicting a high-speed vehicle undergoing a magical or mechanical transformation. The card was created by Wizards of the Coast as a versatile enchantment that allows players to transform creatures into Vehicles, a mechanic that emphasizes the set's central theme of modularity and rapid tactical shifts.
The artwork for this specific card, illustrated by Donato Giancola, highlights the dynamic interplay between the organic form of the creature and the stark, neon-lit machinery of the Kamigawa plane. Upon its debut, the card gained significant attention within the competitive community due to its efficiency as a removal spell and its utility in various formats. As an inclusion in The List—a curated selection of cards from Magic’s history featured in set booster packs—this version serves as a functional reprint that maintains the design integrity of the original release.
