Sylvan Library was originally printed in the 1994 Legends expansion, designed by Richard Garfield as a high-utility enchantment that allows players to trade life for card selection. Its inclusion in the 2012 Commander's Arsenal set marked a significant stylistic departure from the original, featuring brand-new, lush digital artwork commissioned by Wizards of the Coast to celebrate the growing popularity of the Commander format.
