Where it came from
Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar was released as part of the Edge of Eternities promotional set, a series designed to highlight key narrative figures during the game's expansion phase. The card was created to serve as an alternate-art chase piece for local tournament participants, intended to reward community engagement while showcasing the intricate, high-fantasy aesthetic that defines the game's visual identity.
The illustration was commissioned to emphasize the character’s radiant aura, utilizing a bold gold-leaf color palette to contrast with the dark, moody landscapes typical of the set. Design choices favored sweeping lines and dramatic lighting to reflect Syr Vondam’s status as a paragon within the lore. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its technical playability and its unique aesthetic departure from the standard set printings.
