Where it came from
Tannuk, Steadfast Second was released as part of the Edge of Eternities expansion for the trading card game. Developed to anchor the set's mechanical focus on defensive durability and board presence, the card represents the central narrative arc of its namesake character, a tactical commander tasked with holding a critical line during the climactic conflict of the expansion's lore. The design team focused on creating a balanced unit that rewarded players for sustained, turn-based interaction rather than aggressive, high-damage strikes.
The visual identity for the card was crafted to evoke a sense of stoic reliability, utilizing muted metallic color palettes and sharp, angular linework to emphasize the character's disciplined nature. It was received positively by the community for its strategic depth, with many players noting that its artwork successfully communicated a feeling of unwavering vigilance. By aligning mechanical function with thematic intent, the card became a staple for defensive deck archetypes within the game's competitive circuit.
