Where it came from
Teferi, Temporal Archmage was originally released in the 2014 Commander product line, serving as a focal point for blue-aligned control strategies. The character, a time-manipulating planeswalker, has been a central figure in Magic: The Gathering lore since his introduction in the 1990s. This specific version from Commander Masters features updated aesthetics while retaining the iconic ability set that allows players to untap permanents, emphasizing the character's mastery over temporal flow.
The Commander Masters reprint serves to make this high-utility card more accessible to contemporary players while updating the visual presentation to match modern standards. The design team focused on maintaining the strategic complexity that makes Teferi a staple of the format, particularly for players who favor reactive gameplay and tactical resource management. As a cornerstone of high-level commander deck-building, this iteration is widely recognized for its synergy with artifacts and control-heavy archetypes.
