Temple Acolyte

Temple Acolyte was originally printed as a common in the 2003 Magic: The Gathering set Legions, part of the Onslaught block. It was later reprinted in the 2010 Duel Decks: Elspeth vs. Tezzeret, a preconstructed product designed to showcase the rivalry between two iconic planeswalkers. The card was created to provide white decks with a reliable source of life gain, reflecting the defensive and restorative themes often associated with the color white in the game's color pie.

The artwork for the card, illustrated by Daren Bader, features a cloaked figure in a temple setting, evoking a sense of meditative service. Bader’s aesthetic choices during this period of Magic history helped define the visual language of the game's more spiritual or religious factions. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional, low-cost utility creature, serving as a staple for limited formats where managing life totals was a key strategic component.
