Plains

This Plains card was released in 2010 as part of the Duel Decks: Elspeth vs. Tezzeret set. The set was designed to pit two iconic Planeswalkers against one another, representing the ideological clash between the white-aligned hero Elspeth Tirel and the blue-aligned artificer Tezzeret. This specific card serves as a foundational mana source, visually reflecting the aesthetic of the Bant shard where Elspeth initially finds refuge.

The art for this card follows the established stylistic guidelines for the Duel Decks series, which often repurposed existing illustrations or commissioned new pieces to evoke a specific narrative theme. In this instance, the card features the work of artist Terese Nielsen, whose signature style provides the sweeping, ethereal landscapes characteristic of high-fantasy settings. It remains a functional piece of the set, providing the necessary white mana to support Elspeth's defensive and supportive gameplay strategy.
