Temple of the False God

Temple of the False God first debuted in the Scourge expansion in 2003, designed to provide a powerful but conditional ramp effect in Commander and multiplayer formats. By the time it was reprinted in the Wilds of Eldraine Commander set, it had become a staple of casual deck building, prized for its ability to produce two colorless mana once a player controls at least five lands, reflecting the game's shift toward high-impact late-game utility.

The art for the Wilds of Eldraine Commander version continues the tradition of depicting a grand, surreal structure imbued with magical energy, fitting the set’s focus on the folklore and high-fantasy aesthetic of the plane of Eldraine. The design intent remains consistent with its original inception: rewarding players for reaching the mid-to-late game stages, although its effectiveness is frequently debated among competitive players due to its potential to be a dead card in the early turns.
