Where it came from
Temporal Trespass was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaboration with the Assassin's Creed franchise. The card functions as a sorcery that grants an extra turn, a powerful effect historically rooted in the game's earliest mechanics. It was designed to mirror the temporal anomalies and memory-diving narrative core of the Assassin's Creed video game series, where characters utilize the Animus to inhabit the experiences of their ancestors.
The artwork for this specific card features the stylized, historical aesthetics characteristic of the franchise, emphasizing the intersection of ancient environments and modern technology. As a direct-to-modern-format set, the cards were received by the community as a bridge between tactical gameplay and the deep lore of the stealth-action genre, with design choices intended to evoke the sensation of manipulating time to gain a strategic advantage in combat.
