Where it came from
Tempting Witch was released in 2020 as part of the Jumpstart set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was designed to create a unique, self-contained drafting experience where players combine two themed packs to form a ready-to-play deck. The card was specifically created for the 'Witch' themed deck, intended to provide a synergy-focused creature that rewards players for accumulating other Witch-themed cards on the battlefield.
The illustration for the card was provided by artist Volkan Baga. Baga is known for his atmospheric and detailed fantasy style, and for this piece, he aimed to capture a whimsical yet slightly sinister aesthetic fitting for a traditional folklore-inspired witch. Upon release, the card was received as a functional, flavorful inclusion for casual play and tribal decks, successfully reinforcing the set's design goal of providing thematic, accessible archetypes for players of all skill levels.
