What it does
Flying; banding (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)
"When we're aloft, I love to lean over the Weatherlight's railing and watch the patterns the griffins' shadows make on the clouds below."— Sisay, Captain of the *Weatherlight*

Where it came from
Teremko Griffin was released in 1996 as part of the Mirage expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set is notable for being the first to be designed without the direct involvement of the game's creator, Richard Garfield, instead relying on a team of designers led by Bill Rose. The set introduced several mechanics, such as phasing and flanking, and was heavily inspired by African and Middle Eastern motifs, moving away from the traditional high-fantasy tropes seen in earlier expansions.
The card features artwork by Margaret Organ-Kean, a frequent contributor to early Magic sets who brought a distinct, painterly style to the game's creature cards. As a common creature, Teremko Griffin was designed to bolster the white color deck's mid-game presence. While not considered a centerpiece of the competitive meta at the time of its release, the card is remembered by collectors for its role in establishing the aesthetic identity of the Mirage block, which is often praised for its cohesive visual storytelling.
