Where it came from
Territory Forge was released as part of the 2024 expansion set, The Big Score, designed to anchor the set's central theme of resource management and industrial expansion. The card was crafted to reward players who focus on board control, reflecting a strategic shift in the game's meta toward deliberate, long-term asset building rather than quick-play tactics.
The illustrative direction for the piece was led by the studio's primary concept team, who aimed to evoke a sense of gritty, utilitarian steampunk aesthetics. By employing a muted color palette and stark architectural lines, the design seeks to immerse the player in the demanding atmosphere of an expanding frontier. Upon its release, it was lauded by the competitive community for its balanced utility and thematic cohesion.
