Where it came from
Territory Forge was released as part of the 2024 expansion set The Big Score, a release designed to shift the meta-game toward resource management and long-term board control. The card reflects the set's central theme of industrial expansion and strategic maneuvering within the game's evolving economy. It was developed by the core design team to serve as a pivotal utility piece, intended to reward players who invest early in board presence rather than relying on aggressive, fast-paced playstyles.
The visual design of Territory Forge focuses on gritty, industrial aesthetics, featuring intricate mechanical detailing that highlights the weight and scale of the structure. Illustrators aimed to capture a sense of permanence and growth, using a muted color palette to distinguish the card from the more chaotic, high-contrast action cards in the set. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its balance and the tactical depth it brought to competitive deck construction.
