Where it came from
Tersa Lightshatter is a promotional card released as part of the Tarkir: Dragonstorm promotional set, which served as a tie-in to the broader Khans of Tarkir block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These cards were primarily distributed through specialized event kits and organized play initiatives, designed to celebrate the distinct dragon-centric themes of the plane of Tarkir by offering alternate-frame versions of cards to dedicated players.
The visual identity of this card reflects the signature aesthetic of the Tarkir block, which emphasized vibrant, aggressive imagery to match the high-fantasy narrative of warring clans and draconic power. Illustrators for this set aimed to capture a sense of movement and elemental force, resulting in a design that remains a distinctive example of the promotional strategies used by Wizards of the Coast to engage their community during the mid-2010s.
