What it does
When you planeswalk to The Aether Flues and at the beginning of your upkeep, you may sacrifice a creature. If you do, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle all other cards revealed this way into your library.
Whenever chaos ensues, you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.

Where it came from
The Aether Flues was released in 2009 as part of the initial Planechase product line for Magic: The Gathering. This set introduced the Planechase format, which utilizes oversized cards representing different planes within the game's multiverse, adding a layer of chaos and planar movement to standard play. The Flues specifically depicts the landscape of the plane of Iquatana, a world characterized by its vast, shifting mists and unique architecture.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Chippy, a frequent contributor to the game known for his atmospheric and otherworldly aesthetic. In designing this piece, the artist leaned into the ethereal nature of the plane, using muted tones and architectural geometry to evoke the sense of a world tethered by mysterious energy conduits. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional addition to the chaotic nature of the format, praised for its thematic depth and its ability to influence the game’s board state through its mana-altering abilities.
