What it does
When you planeswalk to The Aether Flues and at the beginning of your upkeep, you may sacrifice a creature. If you do, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle all other cards revealed this way into your library.
Whenever chaos ensues, you may put a creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.

Where it came from
The Aether Flues was released in 2023 as part of the March of the Machine Commander set for Magic: The Gathering. Within the narrative context of the game, the card represents the desperate measures taken by various planes of the multiverse to channel arcane energy during the multiversal invasion by the Phyrexians. It functions as a red enchantment, utilizing a mechanic that allows players to gamble on the top card of their library for potential casting benefits.
The art was crafted by illustrator Dominik Mayer, whose signature high-contrast, angular, and expressionistic style is well-regarded among the community for bringing a sense of architectural dread to the game. Designed by the Wizards of the Coast R&D team, the card was intended to support the high-variance, chaotic playstyle often favored in Commander formats. It was received by players as a niche, fun-focused utility card that rewards risk-taking rather than optimized competitive efficiency.
