Where it came from
The Legend of Arena is a specialized promotional card released in 2018 as part of the Heroes of the Realm series. This set is uniquely produced by Wizards of the Coast and is distributed exclusively to employees of the company in recognition of their contributions to specific projects or development milestones. Because these cards are not sold in booster packs or retail stores, they represent a rare internal artifact of the company’s corporate culture.
The card was designed to feature original, stylized artwork commissioned internally to commemorate the internal project teams behind Magic: The Gathering. As with other entries in the Heroes of the Realm series, the mechanics are designed to be unconventional and distinct from standard competitive play, serving primarily as a commemorative trophy for the designers, artists, and engineers who participated in the development of the Arena platform.
