Where it came from
Sol, Advocate Eternal was produced in 2018 as part of the Heroes of the Realm series, an exclusive set of Magic: The Gathering cards commissioned by Wizards of the Coast. These cards are not part of the standard commercial game sets; instead, they are created specifically as internal awards for employees who have made exceptional contributions to the company, making them some of the rarest items in the game's history.
The card was illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, a celebrated artist within the Magic community known for her ability to render ethereal and commanding figures. The design aesthetic follows the high-fantasy style established in the core game, with Sol depicted as a powerful, benevolent entity. Because these cards are printed in extremely limited quantities—typically only for the specific internal recipients—they are highly sought after by collectors of unique gaming memorabilia, serving as a prestigious token of internal recognition rather than a playable component of the retail market.
