What it does
At the beginning of your upkeep, secretly choose a number between 1 and 5 that hasn't been chosen. If you do, an opponent guesses which number you chose, then you reveal the number you chose. If they guessed wrong, they lose life equal to the number they guessed and you draw a card. If they guessed right, sacrifice this enchantment.

Where it came from
The Toymaker's Trap is a card featured in the Doctor Who trading card game, specifically released as part of the expansion sets celebrating the long-running British science fiction series. It draws its inspiration from the classic 1966 serial The Celestial Toymaker, which introduced the titular antagonist as a powerful entity capable of trapping individuals within his own games and puzzles. The card design leans into the surreal and whimsical aesthetic of this vintage era, utilizing imagery that reflects the character's manipulative and playful nature.
The card functions within the game's mechanics to represent the Toymaker's ability to ensnare his opponents, mirroring the tactical frustration of the television source material. Illustrations for these sets are often commissioned to blend modern graphic sensibilities with the distinct, low-budget charm of 1960s BBC production design. While the card is a standard inclusion for fans of the game's expansion series, it is noted by collectors primarily for its thematic connection to one of the Doctor's most enigmatic and enduring foes.
