Theros Charm

Theros Charm (UW15) was released as part of the promotional materials for the 2013 Prerelease events for the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Theros. As a 'Prerelease card,' it was designed to give players a thematic introduction to the plane of Theros, which drew heavily on Greek mythology and the influence of the gods on mortal affairs. The card was intended to showcase the set's signature mechanics, specifically providing players with flexible, modal options that reflected the strategic depth of the block.

The card features artwork by Clint Cearley, whose contribution was meant to capture the heroic, divine aesthetic central to the Theros setting. The design team focused on creating an instant that offered a choice of three distinct utility effects—creature removal, damage prevention, or enchantment destruction—mirroring the multifaceted nature of the gods portrayed in the set. Upon its release, it was well-received by the player base for its versatility and its ability to serve as a reliable staple in Limited formats.
