Thornwood Falls

Thornwood Falls was released in 2019 as part of the Throne of Eldraine expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set drew heavily from European folklore and Arthurian legend, aiming to blend high fantasy with the whimsical, often darker elements of fairy tales. As a 'tapped land' that provides two colors of mana and a small amount of life gain, it serves a functional role in the game’s limited environment, allowing players to stabilize their mana base during the slower, strategic gameplay encouraged by the set's design.

The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Titus Lunter, who contributed significantly to the visual identity of the Throne of Eldraine plane. Lunter utilized a lush, painterly style to capture the setting’s tranquil yet mystical atmosphere, focusing on the cascading waters and the overgrown, enchanted nature of the environment. The design was well-received by players for its aesthetic cohesion with the set’s broader theme of untamed, storybook wilderness, and it remains a staple for casual formats where dual-colored decks require accessible mana fixing.
