Thornwood Falls

Thornwood Falls was released in 2020 as part of the Core Set 2021 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It belongs to a cycle of common rarity 'dual lands'—cards that can produce two different colors of mana—designed to provide newer players with accessible tools to fix their mana bases during gameplay. The card features a recurring design mechanic that grants the player one life upon entering the battlefield, compensating for the card's drawback of entering tapped.

The illustration for this iteration of the card was created by artist Titus Lunter, who captured the tranquil, atmospheric aesthetic of the location. The design focus was on evoking a sense of natural, grounded stability consistent with the green and blue mana colors of the Simic Combine, a faction often associated with growth and water. The card was well-received by the player base for its functional role as an affordable, reliable utility land in casual and limited formats.
