What it does
Banding (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)
Though many think of Wolves as solitary predators, they are actually extremely social animals. During a hunt they often call to each other, which can be quite unsettling for their prey.

Where it came from
Timber Wolves was originally released in 1994 as part of the Revised Edition of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set served as the third core release for the game, aiming to standardize rules and provide a more accessible entry point for new players following the rapid success of the initial Alpha and Beta print runs. The card was designed as a low-cost green creature, representing the thematic focus of the color green on natural, forest-dwelling fauna.
The illustration for Timber Wolves was created by the artist Melissa A. Benson, whose work during the early years of the game established much of its iconic aesthetic. In this piece, she employed a stylized, somewhat muted approach that became characteristic of the early sets. While the card is mechanically straightforward and reflects the era's minimalist design philosophy, it remains a nostalgic piece for those who began their collections during the foundational years of the game.
