Where it came from
Time Reversal was released in July 2010 as part of the Magic 2011 core set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Wizards of the Coast designed the card as a functional successor to the iconic Timetwister, an extremely rare card from the game's initial Alpha release in 1993, intended to provide modern players with a similar effect of refreshing a hand of cards while maintaining game balance.
The card’s illustration was created by artist Izzy, who utilized a vivid, swirling aesthetic to capture the chaotic nature of temporal manipulation. Upon its release, the card saw significant competitive play in various formats, as its ability to reset a player's resources allowed for unique strategic advantages that defined the meta-game of that era.
