Where it came from
Tinker was originally released as a rare artifact in the 1998 Urza's Saga expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed to allow players to sacrifice a small artifact to search their library for a more powerful one, the card quickly became a centerpiece of high-level competitive play due to its unparalleled efficiency and combo potential. Its design, characterized by the ability to cheat mana costs, cemented it as a fundamental element of artifact-based strategies throughout the game's history.
The 2024a version for the Eternal Weekend event continues the tradition of specialized, high-utility printings for the game's competitive circuit. These editions are crafted for tournament players who value aesthetic distinction during championship-level play. While the mechanical function remains unchanged from its nineteenth-century roots, this iteration features unique artistic direction tailored to the prestige of the Eternal Weekend format, reflecting the card's enduring legacy as one of the most powerful tools in a player's arsenal.
