Transguild Promenade

Transguild Promenade was first printed in the Commander 2013 release, a set designed to expand the popular multiplayer format by introducing preconstructed decks built around legendary creatures. The card serves as a functional utility land, offering color fixing for players running multi-color decks by allowing them to tap for any color of mana at the cost of sacrificing a land upon arrival. Its inclusion in the set reflects the design philosophy of supporting diverse, budget-conscious deckbuilding in a format where mana consistency is often a significant hurdle.

The artwork for this printing was provided by Richard Wright, who utilized a lush, architectural style to depict the sprawling, interconnected cityscape of Ravnica. Wright aimed to capture the sense of scale inherent to the plane's endless metropolitan landscape, emphasizing the bustling, multiracial nature of the setting. The card has since become a staple in the Commander ecosystem, recognized for its accessibility and its thematic alignment with the Ravnica setting, where guilds and trans-guild cooperation remain central to the narrative.
