Where it came from
Trazyn the Infinite was released in 2022 as part of the Warhammer 40,000 Commander set for Magic: The Gathering. This set was created through a partnership between Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop to integrate the lore of the 41st millennium into the trading card game format. The card represents Trazyn, a Necron Overlord known for his obsession with collecting historical artifacts and living specimens, perfectly capturing his canonical ability to manipulate artifacts through his game mechanics.
The card's artwork, illustrated by Antonio José Manzanedo, emphasizes Trazyn's imposing, skeletal silhouette and his role as a curator of history. Manzanedo aimed to reflect the cold, metallic aesthetic of the Necron race while highlighting the character’s unique status among his peers. Upon release, the card was widely praised by the Commander community for its mechanical depth and its thematic accuracy, quickly becoming a staple for players building decks centered around artifact interaction and graveyard utility.
