Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt was released in early 2010 as part of the Worldwake expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to follow the Zendikar block's theme of land-focused mechanics and adventure, with this particular spell intended to reward players for running decks heavily saturated with land cards. It reflects the mechanical experimentation of the era, where developers explored cards that scaled in power based on the composition of the player's deck.

The card was illustrated by the artist Dave Kendall, who utilized a dark, atmospheric style to capture the feeling of scouring ancient ruins. Upon its release, it was initially viewed as a niche utility card, though it eventually gained a cult following in non-rotating formats like Modern and Pauper. It became a centerpiece for 'combo' strategies that sought to draw an entire deck in a single turn by minimizing non-land permanents, proving that even common-rarity cards could become pillars of competitive play.
