Where it came from
Treasure Hunt was originally released as a common in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Worldwake, designed to provide a unique card-advantage engine for blue decks. The Magic Player Rewards version, issued in 2011, is a premium foil promotional printing characterized by its distinct alternate art created by illustrator Wisnu Tan, which leans into the high-fantasy aesthetic typical of the era.
This specific promotional release was part of a loyalty program that rewarded active tournament players with stylized cards. While the base card became infamous for its surprising efficacy in niche combo decks, particularly in the Modern and Pauper formats, the promotional version remains a sought-after piece for collectors who appreciate the foil treatment and the specific illustrative shift from the original Worldwake release.
