Provenance

Where it came from

Trigger Happy was released in 2022 as part of the Unfinity expansion for Magic: The Gathering, a set designed to explore the boundaries of game mechanics through the lens of a retro-futuristic, space-carnival aesthetic. As a silver-bordered style card, it intentionally plays with the unconventional ruleset and comedic tone characteristic of the 'Un-' series, focusing on chaotic, trigger-based gameplay interactions.

The card was illustrated by artist Matt Dixon, known for his distinctively expressive character work. The design brief for the set emphasized a vibrant, mid-century sci-fi theme, and Dixon’s contribution highlights this aesthetic through the portrayal of an excitable mechanical figure. Upon release, the card was noted by players for its thematic alignment with the set's playful approach to high-variance board states.
