Where it came from
Turnabout was originally released in the 1999 Urza's Saga expansion for Magic: The Gathering. It emerged during a period of high power levels in the game's history, designed as an instant that allowed players to tap or untap all artifacts, creatures, or lands. The card was illustrated by Donato Giancola, who utilized his signature painterly style to depict a mystical sense of shift and reversal, fitting the theme of a powerful spell that could pivot the momentum of a match.
The version from Ravnica Remastered, featuring collector number 452, functions as a thematic reprint that brings the card into the modern aesthetics of the Ravnica plane. Ravnica Remastered was designed to compile iconic cards from the history of the Ravnica blocks into a cohesive draftable experience, celebrating the city-plane's guilds and history. The inclusion of Turnabout in this set maintains its utility for players while updating its presentation within the visual language established for the remaster.
