Where it came from
Unfinished Business was released as part of the Final Fantasy Commander set, a thematic collection designed to bring the narrative weight and iconic mechanics of the long-running video game franchise into a card-based format. The card serves as a mechanical representation of the series' recurring themes of redemption, lingering conflict, and the resurrection of fallen allies, reflecting the emotional stakes often found in the games' plot lines.
The card’s illustration leans into the gothic and ethereal aesthetics common to the Final Fantasy series, utilizing a dark, high-contrast palette to evoke a sense of solemnity. The design was crafted to balance high-utility gameplay with thematic resonance, aiming to reward players who manage late-game board states. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile tool for tactical play, praised by the community for its ability to shift the momentum of a match by reintroducing defeated units.
