Venom Connoisseur // Venom Connoisseur

The Venom Connoisseur card is part of the Art Series released alongside the Streets of New Capenna set in 2022. This series was designed to showcase the full-art illustrations featured on cards from the main set, focusing on the distinct art-deco and noir-inspired aesthetic of the plane of New Capenna. The set highlights the city's corrupt, demon-run society, with this particular piece capturing the opulent yet sinister atmosphere that defines the narrative of the release.

The artwork was created by the illustrator Ryan Pancoast, who is well-regarded for his atmospheric and character-driven work within the Magic: The Gathering franchise. By removing the card text and borders, the Art Series allows collectors to focus on the interplay of lighting and the decadent ornamentation central to the New Capenna visual style. The series has been received by players and collectors as a premium way to engage with the world-building and artistic craftsmanship of the game, functioning as an accessible alternative to high-end art prints.
