Vesuvan Duplimancy

Vesuvan Duplimancy was introduced in the 2022 Magic: The Gathering expansion Dominaria United. It was designed as a rare enchantment representing the metamorphic magic of the Vesuvan shapeshifters, a long-standing faction in the game's lore known for their mastery of illusion and mimicry. Mechanically, the card was crafted to reward players for casting spells that target their own creatures, creating token copies of those creatures and reflecting the thematic 'copying' nature of the Vesuvan people.

The artwork for the card was illustrated by Victor Adame Minguez, who sought to visually capture the surreal, liquid nature of Vesuvan transformation. The design focuses on the fluidity of form, portraying a figure in the midst of shifting into multiple iterations of itself. Upon its release, the card gained significant attention in the Commander format, where players found creative utility in its ability to generate rapid board presence through targeted spells, solidifying its place as a popular choice for deck-builders interested in clone-based strategies.
