Provenance

Where it came from

Victory Chimes was released in June 2018 as part of the Battlebond expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a multiplayer-focused set, Battlebond introduced mechanics centered around cooperative gameplay and team-based dynamics. The card serves as a mana-producing artifact, providing utility in the 'Commander' and 'Two-Headed Giant' formats where managing resources across longer, social games is essential.

The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who utilized a bright, celestial aesthetic to evoke the grandeur of the set’s tournament-themed setting. The design conveys a sense of celebratory resonance, aligning with the lore of the plane of Kylem where competitors engage in spectacular gladiatorial displays. It was well-received by players for its consistency and ability to generate mana during opponents' turns, making it a reliable staple for multiplayer decks.
