Where it came from
Vivien Reid, collector number 1 from the 2027 Wizards Play Network promotional set, was released as part of a recurring initiative by Wizards of the Coast to support local game stores. These cards are typically distributed as participation rewards or seasonal incentives for players engaging in organized play events, emphasizing community-building over high-volume retail availability.
The card features artwork commissioned to align with the evolving aesthetic of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse, focusing on character-driven designs that highlight the lore of Planeswalkers. The illustration process for this specific release aimed to capture Vivien Reid’s signature affinity for nature and guardianship, utilizing a stylized, clean composition that has become characteristic of the modern promotional card aesthetic, generally well-received by players for its vibrant color palette and thematic consistency.
