Vivien Reid

Vivien Reid was originally introduced as a mythic rare planeswalker card in the Core Set 2018 expansion for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a green-aligned forest guardian, the character was conceived to reflect a deep connection to nature and wildlife, utilizing abilities that allow players to hunt for creatures and interact with enchantments or artifacts. The card was illustrated by Chris Rahn, who captured Vivien’s resolute expression and her signature spirit bow, grounding her aesthetic in a blend of traditional fantasy rangers and modern magical warriors.

Upon its release, Vivien Reid was well-received by the player base for her versatility in various constructed formats. Her mechanics provided green decks with much-needed card advantage and utility against flying creatures, making her a staple in midrange strategies of the time. The card was later included in 'The List', a rotating selection of cards from Magic's history reprinted with a small symbol in the corner, allowing newer players to acquire influential cards from past sets and ensuring her continued presence in the game’s ecosystem.
