Wall of Fire

Wall of Fire was released in 1994 as part of the Summer Magic set, a controversial reprint series of Revised Edition cards intended to correct printing errors and color balance issues. The set, often referred to as Edgar, was produced in limited quantities after an initial distribution mishap led to the vast majority of the stock being destroyed by Wizards of the Coast. This rarity has transformed the set from a failed commercial endeavor into a highly sought-after curiosity among serious collectors of early Magic: The Gathering history.

The artwork for Wall of Fire was created by Dan Frazier, one of the original artists for the game. His illustration captures the quintessential fantasy aesthetic of the early 1990s, utilizing a bold, hand-painted style that emphasizes the card's function as a defensive barrier. While the card itself was a staple of early red-aligned decks due to its ability to pump power, the Summer Magic version is distinguished specifically by its unique printing characteristics and the historical narrative of the set's near-total recall.
