Wei Strike Force

Wei Strike Force was released in 1999 as part of the Portal Three Kingdoms expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This set was specifically designed as an introductory product for the Asian market, featuring themes and characters based on the 14th-century Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The set was notable for simplifying core game mechanics to lower the barrier to entry for new players, though it eventually became a sought-after collectible due to its limited print run and unique setting.

The card illustration, credited to artist Qi Baosheng, captures the martial aesthetic associated with the warlord Cao Cao’s forces during the late Eastern Han dynasty.
