What it does
Each player secretly chooses a number 0 or greater, then all players reveal those numbers simultaneously and determine the highest and lowest numbers revealed this way. Wheel of Misfortune deals damage equal to the highest number to each player who chose that number. Each player who didn't choose the lowest number discards their hand, then draws seven cards.

Where it came from
Wheel of Misfortune, numbered 70 in The Zeta Set, emerged during a period of experimentation within the custom card game community. It was designed to function as a high-risk, high-reward tactical card, intended to inject a chaotic element into the competitive meta. The card's mechanics were built around a 'spin-the-wheel' concept, which forced players to balance the potential for a significant resource swing against the equally likely possibility of total board disruption.
The illustrative style for this piece favored a dark, surreal aesthetic, utilizing sharp ink work and muted color palettes to underscore the theme of sudden, arbitrary misfortune. It was produced for players seeking deeper strategic variance, and upon its release, it garnered a reputation among enthusiasts for being a polarizing tool. While critics often noted its unpredictability made it difficult to balance in tournament play, it was widely praised for its thematic cohesion and distinct visual identity within the set.
