Where it came from
Wild Dogs was originally printed in the 1998 Weatherlight expansion, emerging during a period where Magic: The Gathering was refining its creature power levels. The card was designed as a low-cost, aggressive green creature, capturing the feral essence of the creature type through its mechanical drawback—an ability that forces the card to attack each turn if possible, emphasizing the reckless nature of the beast.
The artwork for the Dominaria Remastered printing maintains the iconic aesthetic of the original, utilizing the classic illustration style that defined early green creatures. Dominaria Remastered serves as a curated retrospective of the game's history, selecting cards that evoke nostalgia for long-time players. The inclusion of Wild Dogs in this set honors its legacy as a staple of early aggressive deck-building strategies.
