Island

The Island card from the Dominaria Remastered set, specifically collector number 404, serves as a celebration of the deep history of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Released in 2023, the set was designed as a curated anthology, gathering iconic cards from across the many sets that have depicted the plane of Dominaria over the game's thirty-year history. This particular card utilizes a classic art style intended to evoke the nostalgic, high-fantasy aesthetic that defined the game's early years, providing long-term players with a thematic connection to the foundational lore of the franchise.

The art featured on this Island was selected by the Wizards of the Coast design team to capture the quintessential atmosphere of Dominaria’s geography. By reprinting these specific artistic treatments within a modern draft-focused frame, the developers aimed to bridge the gap between vintage art sensibilities and contemporary card utility. The design was received by the community as a tribute to the plane that served as the primary setting for the game's initial decade, prioritizing visual cohesion with the established history of the world's various landscapes.
