Where it came from
Windcrag Siege is a rare promotional version of a card originally appearing in the Fate Reforged set of the Magic: The Gathering card game, released in early 2015. This specific 'Tarkir: Dragonstorm' promo variant was distributed as a participation reward at sanctioned tournament events, serving as a way to engage the competitive player community while highlighting the set's central theme of a war-torn, dragon-dominated timeline.
The card was illustrated by artist Jack Wang, who utilized a dramatic, sweeping perspective to capture the siege of a fortress against a backdrop of encroaching dragons. The visual design emphasizes the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Tarkir plane, aiming to evoke a sense of scale and impending conflict. Upon release, the card was received primarily as a functional utility piece for players interested in control-oriented strategies, though it remains a notable item for collectors of specific promotional numbering.
