Witch's Cottage

Witch's Cottage was first introduced in the Throne of Eldraine expansion in 2019, drawing heavy inspiration from classic European folklore and the archetype of the isolated, sinister woodland dwelling. Designed as a utility land, its mechanics reflect the thematic trope of a witch's garden or home, where the player is rewarded for their connection to the graveyard. The card features art by Titus Lunter, who employed a moody, gothic aesthetic to emphasize the cottage’s role as a place of dark, reanimated secrets tucked away in a remote landscape.

This particular printing arrives as part of the Foundations Commander set, which serves as a curated collection designed to provide both new and established players with essential cards for the Commander format. By including this land in the release, the design team aimed to maintain the utility of graveyard recursion in a standardized, accessible form. It has been well-received by the player base for its functional reliability and its ability to fit seamlessly into black-aligned decks, serving as a staple for those looking to recover key creatures from their discard pile.
