Where it came from
Zhalfirin Void was originally printed in the Dominaria expansion in 2018, designed as a utility land that offers the scry 1 ability upon entry to help players smooth out their draws. The card is a nostalgic nod to the lost continent of Zhalfir, a region in the Magic: The Gathering lore that was phased out of reality during the Phyrexian invasion, grounding the card's mechanics in the set's broader theme of historical recovery and archaeological discovery.
This specific promo version, numbered 249, features art by Titus Lunter. Lunter’s illustration captures the ethereal, translucent aesthetic of the Void, emphasizing the magical remnants left behind by the phased-out land. It was released as a promotional card to encourage organized play, and it has been well-regarded by collectors for its clean, atmospheric art and its functional versatility in various casual and competitive formats.
