Provenance

Where it came from

The Zombie token from the Aetherdrift Commander Tokens set was released to support the mechanical requirements of the Aetherdrift expansion. Designed for use in Magic: The Gathering, these tokens represent ephemeral board states created by specific spells or abilities, serving as essential utility pieces that allow players to track creature presence without needing to represent them with randomized scraps or dice.

The visual design of these tokens reflects the aesthetic language of the Aetherdrift plane, emphasizing the set's thematic blend of high-fantasy and planar-traveler grit. By standardizing these tokens for the Commander format, Wizards of the Coast aimed to provide players with durable, thematic accompaniments to their preconstructed decks, ensuring a cohesive experience for both casual gameplay and tournament sessions.
