Alexandros - Dream for World Conquest

Alexandros - Dream for World Conquest is a historical manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, a renowned figure in the anime and manga industry perhaps best known for his work on Mobile Suit Gundam. First serialized in the early 1990s, the work reflects Yoshikazu’s long-standing interest in historical epics and complex character studies. The series dramatizes the life and military campaigns of Alexander the Great, stripping away some of the traditional romanticism to focus on the political maneuvering and the psychological burden of a leader attempting to forge a unified world empire.

Yoshikazu’s approach to the design and narrative of this series is characterized by his distinctive, soft-edged art style and his tendency to blend rigorous historical research with personal human drama. Unlike many action-oriented historical manga of the era, Alexandros leans heavily into dialogue and the internal motivations of its protagonist. Upon its release, the work was noted for its artistic maturity and its attempt to humanize one of history’s most formidable figures, cementing Yoshikazu’s reputation as a creator capable of bridging the gap between historical biography and compelling graphic storytelling.
